Christel Sobke is a dynamic artist who experiments with a rich breadth of artistic media. Sobke has worked with fundamentals such as painting and sculpture as well as macro photography and digital art. Her unique brand of art features animals and landscapes that conform to her personal dictates of reality, at once haunting, captivating, and beautiful. Thematically, Sobke is concerned with the natural world and the unlimited possibilities of surrealism.
Born in Paderborn, Germany, Sobke was deeply affected by positive memories of rural life that were in stark contrast to the social and environmental problems of nearby industrial areas. Change is a central theme in Sobke’s work and is rooted in the decay of plants and trees she had witnessed in the polluted industrial sections. “Throughout my whole work I have a strong basic theme: that of showing life is change, environment is alteration.” Christel Sobke lives and works in Germany.
